Historia:

Slayer se form贸 en 1981, cuando Kerry King conoci贸 a Jeff Hanneman mientras estaban haciendo pruebas para entrar en una banda de heavy metal.Ambos contrataron al vocalista y bajista de origen chileno Tom Araya y al baterista cubano Dave Lombardo, a quien conocieron mientras trabajaba como repartidor de pizzas.La banda comenz贸 a interpretar canciones de Iron Maiden y Judas Priest en clubes musicales del sur de California.Sus primeras actuaciones inclu铆an im谩genes sat谩nicas y cruces invertidas,as铆 como dem谩s parafernalia anticristianismo. Durante uno de estos conciertos, la banda llam贸 la atenci贸n de Brian Slagel, un periodista que hab铆a fundado recientemente la compa帽铆a discogr谩fica Metal Blade Records, quien le ofreci贸 a la formaci贸n un contrato discogr谩fico. Existe un rumor que afirma que la banda se llam贸 en un principio Dragonslayer debido a la pel铆cula del mismo nombre (en ingl茅s). Sin embargo, este rumor fue negado en una entrevista por el guitarrista Kerry King, quien dijo: “Nunca nos llamamos as铆. Eso es un mito”.
A la banda se le ofreci贸 un concierto como teloneros de Bitch en el club Woodstock de la ciudad de los 脕ngeles, en donde interpretaron ocho canciones, de las cuales seis eran versiones de otros artistas. Brian Slagel fue uno de los asistentes al concierto, y qued贸 impresionado por la puesta en escena de la banda. Gracias a esto, se reuni贸 con ellos una vez acabado el concierto para pedirles que grabasen una de las canciones originales que hab铆an tocado en el concierto para incluirla en el recopilatorio del sello, Metal massacre III.La canci贸n “Aggresive perfector” logr贸 una moderada acogida dentro de la cultura underground, con lo que Brian Slagel ofreci贸 un contrato oficial a la banda para su compa帽铆a discogr谩fica Metal Blade Records.
